Where Firebase fits
Firebase is a genuinely good answer for products that need a back end before they need a back-end team. Authentication, a real-time datastore, hosting and functions arrive together and work, which is often exactly what an early product needs.
The trade-offs are worth knowing before you commit. Firestore’s query model is deliberately limited, costs scale with reads rather than with servers, and tests are awkward without help. None of those are reasons to avoid it — they’re reasons to design with them in mind from the start.
