I was the sole developer on China Checkup from 2013 to 2014, working on the front end, the back end and the server.
China Checkup sells business verification and analysis services to clients outside China. I worked on a custom e-commerce system built on the Laravel framework rather than an off-the-shelf platform.
Selling a service rather than a physical product changes what an e-commerce system has to do. A large part of the work was automating the workflow of creating, modifying and selling those services to clients.
The server was part of the job as well as the code, so the MySQL database, the Redis cache and the Linux hosting were all things I worked on.
Some time after I left the company, China Checkup migrated to the Shopify platform.
