I was Principal Software Engineer at Freetrade, primarily working on the platform but also some client-side work.

Freetrade has a serverless architecture running Google Cloud Functions in Firebase using TypeScript.
This was the engagement that moved me from servers to serverless, and most of the cloud work I’ve done since has been on the same model.
A regulated financial product is an unusually demanding place to run functions rather than servers, and it’s the reason I take the trade-offs in going serverless seriously rather than treating it as a default.
